Fit For Duty Rx · Mental Health
For those who carry the weight.
Whether you wear a badge, a uniform, or scrubs, or you love someone who does, the toll of caring for others is real. The resources below are free or low-cost, vetted, and available now. If you need help right now, you do not need to scroll.
You are not alone
First responders, healthcare workers, and service members face higher rates of stress, burnout, and trauma than the general population. What you feel is real, and it is shared.
Help works
Evidence-based treatment, peer support, and counseling make a real difference. Most people who reach out report meaningful improvement.
Reaching out is strength
Asking for help is not weakness. It is the same instinct that makes you good at the job: assess, act, and take care of the people who depend on you, including yourself.
Confidential and free
Every resource on this page is free or low-cost, vetted, and available now. Many are confidential and will not affect your job or career.
Asking for help is not weakness. It is tactical.
You wouldn't ignore a broken leg and keep working a shift, a call, or a deployment. Your mental health is no different. The stigma around seeking help in public safety, healthcare, and the military is changing, and the resources below exist specifically for people like you, staffed by people who have lived what you have lived. Confidentiality is protected. Your career is not at risk for reaching out.
Find what fits you
Who are you looking for help for?
Tap the section that fits your situation. Each one opens to reveal crisis lines, peer support, therapy, substance abuse, PTSD, and financial resources tailored for that audience. Crisis hotlines are listed inside every section.
For agencies, hospitals & HR directors
Building a culture of support.
Mental health is a retention, readiness, and liability issue. Here is what your agency, hospital, or organization can do right now.
Post these numbers everywhere
Put 988, your EAP number, and the relevant peer line on every bulletin board, locker room, break room, and nursing station. Visibility reduces barriers.
Train peer support teams
ICISF and the Code Green Campaign offer peer support training for first responder agencies. Peer support is more effective than mandated counseling alone.
Establish confidential access
Make sure every member knows how to access support without going through HR. Anonymous access removes the fear of career consequences.
